PLDI Meetups

We’re hosting an exciting set of social events for folks attending PLDI – for newcomers to mix with oldtimers. Please take a look at the timeline view for all the events we’re organizing! These meetups are open to everyone and pay-your-own-way as needed. No RSVP except for the junior faculty breakfast (see below). Will leave from the Flatirons Foyer except where noted.

Junior Faculty Breakfast - Thursday

We’re organizing a breakfast for Junior (pre-tenure) faculty at PLDI. If you are pre-tenure at your institution (at tenure-track institutions) or generally consider yourself junior (for non tenure-track positions), please email Rachit (leave the subject line as is).

Hikes in Chautauqua - Monday, Tuesday, and Friday

All the hikes will leave from the Flatirons Foyer at 6:00pm. We will begin by walking one mile form the venue to Chautauqua, which has bathrooms and a place to refill water bottles. Then, we will hike around the trails of Chautauqua, which has excellent excellent views of Boulder and the Flatirons. The route is approximately 4 miles total (including walking from and to the venue) with a 1000 feet of elevation gain. Bring shoes you are comfortable walking in and plenty of water! It will be a fun hike to meet other attendees and see some of Colorado’s natural beauty.

Breakfast Meet and Greet - Wednesday

A meetup for new researchers to interact and meet with more experienced researchers before the events of the day at Alpine Modern Café. Food and beverage will not be provided but can be purchased from the café. No RSVP or reservation required; feel free to stop by anytime between 7:30 and 8:30.

Bands on the Bricks - Wednesday

We will leave from, and return to, the conference venue (Flatirons Foyer) for a walk to Pearl Street for an outdoor concert: Bands on the Bricks. Pearl Street is a half mile walk from the venue, and the concert is planned to go until 9:00pm. For those who want to get dinner along the way, there are lots of restaurants on Pearl Street, and there will be food vendors along the street.

Coffee and Pastries Meet and Greet - Thursday

A meetup for new researchers to interact and meet with more experienced researchers before the events of the day at Aviano Coffee. Food and beverage will not be provided but can be purchased from the café. No RSVP or reservation required; feel free to stop by anytime between 7:30 and 8:30.

Boulder Dushanbe Tea House - Thursday

We will get some evening tea at Boulder Dushanbe Tea House and be back to the conference venue in time for the business meeting at 6:00pm. We do not have reservations, so we will sit outside on the patio. The tea house is less than a half mile walk from the venue.
